Tail Wagging Tuesday

Arrrrrooooo.   Yesterday I gave you a challenge to ID dis thingy that I found on my morning walkies.   Here is da pic again.
Thingy

And now for a hit.
Dis was right by da thingy.

What to do?  Pee on it!

And da answer is:  da remains of a palm leaf da fell off a palm tree in da high winds we had the other day.

Oh yes... we do have palm trees in NC.   Dey are not native, butt in our neighborhood, every house is required to have at least 1 palm.   Mom says it's a landscaping requirement.
When we built our house, Mom picked out da smallest palm dat we could get away with.  She says palms are messy and require lots of maintenance.   Mom is not a high maintenance gal.

I hope you have a low maintenance day (whatever dat means... BOL).

Monday Mischief

It's a beautiful day in da neighborhood.

Morning walkies is one of my favorite things to do wiff Aunty D and Mom.

And now for a little mischief.   We see lots of pawsome things on our adventures.  Dis morning I came across this strange looking thing.   I wanted to bring it home wiff me, but Mom said no.  Grrrrrrr... party pooper.

Can you ID this?

Stay tuned and tomorrow I'll share wiff you da answer.

Brrrrrrrrrr.... Baby it's cold outside

Let's GO !

Mom had to find my plaid coat for our Christmas morning walk.

Now, I don't let her dress me up, butt when it is really cold out, I don't mind (and kinda like it).    I also don't get to make lots of pee stops on our walks as we have to walk really fast to get back into the warm house.

Check it out, we even color coordinated our winter outfits.  Dat's what happens when you live wiff quilters.   BOL

More pictures?   Really Mom... it is cold out here.

It's been in the 20s and 30s here in NC with winds (making it feel even colder out).    Mom and Aunty D's older brother lives in Maine and it is colder here dan it is there.   The world is upside down.

Merry Christmas to All

We all stayed home dis year and didn't have any company.   Like a lot of you, we just Facetime'd wiff our friends and relatives.  I'm okay wiff that cuz I don't want my girls (Mom and Aunty D) getting sick.

That said, I have a little secret to tell you.  You can keep a secret, right?

Well... I got to meet da big guy!!!   You know, da jolly one wiff all da bells.

I saw him in da wood and he came over to pat me on da head.   He said dat I was a very good boy dis year and dat 2021 would be a pawsome year.   Wow.

All I can say is dat...
I believe in Santa Paws.

Stay well everybuddy and Merry Christmas!

Monday Mischief - Fence Zoomies (take-2)

My nextdoor buddy is Charlie.   I am older dan him, but he is really tall and can run really fast.  Everyday we do fence zoomies together and den I get a treat from Charlie's dad.   Cool huh?

We couldn't get our video to show up in blogger (grrrrrrrrrr), so my assistant (Mom) did some screen shots of da video.   It's not as good as da video, butt it'll have to do.  Humm.. now dat I look at the pics, I think dat Charlie got a head start.

TREAT ME !

Well... I decided that it is a lot of work for just one treat, so I decided to trained Charlie's dad to give me a treat before I do fence zommies with Charlie.   Dat way I can decide whether or not I really wanta run.   Smart huh?   Des humans are so easy to train.

Mom is not happy dat I just take the treat and then do not run wiff Charlie.   She say dat Santpaws is watching and dat I need to zoom wiff Charlie as it makes him really happy.   Santapaws likes pups dat spread good cheer wiff other pups.   Do you believe dat?

Nature Friday - Have you seen your Oats today?

Today I'm pawticipating in da Nature Friday Blog Hop.

Thank you - Arty, Jakey, Rosy and Sunny of the LLB Gang for hosting Nature Friday.

We live near da beach (Coastal NC) and I thought I'd share some nature pics from dar.

Sea Oats

Sea Oats are tall subtropical grasses that are important components of coastal sand dune and beach plant communities in the southeastern United States.

I just love da beach.

Have a GRRRRReat day in Nature and stay safe.

Fuzzy Ears

Yesterday, Mom and her sister (Aunty D) got haircuts.   Dey both have really SHORT hairs now and I laughed at dar bad short haircuts.   NC Covid-19 numbers are on a rapid rise and dey were worried that the Governor would close hair salons again so dey asked for short cuts.   Turns out dat at the Governor's briefing, he did not close salons.  BOL.   Silly girls.

Well, dey got me back today.   Marty, my groomer (since I was a puppy) stopped by to pick me up for a bath and furcut.   Drat.   She even faked me out and came in a new car.   Her other car is "school bus yellow" so I know to run the other way when I see it, but she drove her husband silver car.   Sneaky.  All dose silver cars look alike to me.    Two hours later and she brought me back all clean and groomed for da holidays.

Here are my Before and After pics (and yes, I do have a lot of grey fur... just like Mom).

BEFORE

AFTER

Mom says that maybe I'll hear her better now dat my ear-fur is trimmed.   BOL.   Jokes on her, I can hear her just fine when she call me in wiff da word "Come".   I just prefer to be bribed.   "Treat/Cookie/Apple/Walk" works for me.   "Come" is boring, don't ya think?

Pees...... Mom finally figured out da blogger changes/"upgrades" so I'm back blogging again.   She is still not happy wiff all da "improvements" and apparently dar are still lots of bugs.   Hopefully dey will fix dat soon,

Monday madness - Blogger changes

Grrrrrrrrrrrr....... I am not happy with Blogger changes.   I tried to change my seasonal header and Blogger changed everything.   Now I can't get my old headers to show up.

Then I was looking at my comment log and saw lots of spam comments (never saw that before).

I may have to move off Blogger.
Mom and Aunty D have a quilting blog on Wordpress so that may be an option, but they made unwanted changes to there interface too.   Grrrrrrrrr.

Hope y'all are well.

Dedication

HAPPY FALL !
Have you noticed dat the squirrels are really active right now?

Dey sure are keeping me busy.

I hear ya Mom, but I'm not coming in.

Can't you see, I'm on duty now.

Dar is a SQUIRREL up dar !!!!!

Mom keeps trying to bribe me with treats to get me to leave my post.

Some peeps think dat I am stubborn, but I deserve a metal for dis dedication.   When I pledge to do a job, I keep my word.   I think dat dos loud politicians could learn a lot from me.  Just sayin.

A National Dog Day surprise (for me)

OMD...... Look what arrived at my house, yesterday, on National Dog Day !!!!

My CHEWY BOX!

It was full of my food, treats, and 2 toys (one stuffy and one flying squirrel for outside playtime).
I love you Chewy.    I wish every day was National Dog Day.

I've been watching Laura on TV and been thinking about all my furfriends in her path.   Thoughts and prayers are wiff y'all.   Stay Safe.

 Wags,

Pees.... Maybe I'll save dis box.  It would make a grrrrrrrreat evacuation boat, da next time we get a hurricane here in NC.

Aftermath - Hurricane Isaias

We're all safe here and I'm exhausted.
Dis Storm Tracker job is no joke.

Isaias came on shore as a Cat 1 Hurricane and the eye of da storm went right over us.   Brunswick County (where we live) was the hardest hit as landfall was in our county.
The strongest wind gust were in our county and dey reported >4.07 inches of rain.   Lots of flooding and even house fires on the coast.
It was out of here by 2am.   A fast moving storm.

Prior to landfall we had about 4 tornado warnings as we were on the Northeast side of the Hurricane (da bad side).   Some of the tornadoes were really close to us butt dey managed to just avoid us.   Mom and Aunty D were very nervous and I did my best to keep dem calm.

When we were in da "bunker" (our climate controlled storage room wiff no windows) I even managed to sleep.   Mom had moved my bed in dar so I was real comfy.   Mom kept busy playing Online Mahjongg and looking a realtor.com

Da good news is dat we never loss power (just some light flickers) and our house is not damaged.   Things are always more scary in da dark.

Dis morning, Mom and Aunty D picked up 4 big bags of downed limbs in da front yard.   Dar are a few out back, butt dey will tackle dem another time.   I think they are both really tired and that naps will be called for, today.

Storm Tracker - TS Isaias

"Awww Monday" Blog Hop!
I got my storm tracker gear on and I'm ready for duty.

Here is da current track.   I marked on da map where we live.   Yep..... Wilmington NC and Isaias looks like she is coming to visit.   I love da name "Isaias".   When you bark it out, it just makes you smile.

Dis morning, at 5am, we woke to da weather radio screeching out a a Hurricane Watch.    It has begun.  Arrrggggg.
Right now we are under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Hurricane Watch.   We are already getting some noisy outer bands wiff lots of boomers (that's what Mom calls thunder).  I get scared in thunder so she thinks dat if she call it "boomers" that it will help.   NOT.

We've been through storms like dis before and everyone is different so we'll see what dis one will bring.   I'm just happy dat it is only a TS or Cat 1 hurricane.   Any bigger would be a huge problem because, wiff Covid-19 out of control, they are asking people to only go to shelters as a last resort.   Some of da beaches asked tourist to evacuate.   I say.... go home tourist until we get dis Covid-19 under control.

Well, I'm on duty and will keep y'all posted as long as we've got power.   Apparently we need dat for me to be able to blog.

Pees..... Stay safe and make sure your peeps wear dar mask.

Da calm before da storm. Waiting on TS Isaias.

Dey call it da "Dog Days of Summer" and it sure has been really HOT outside (wiff heat index over 100 degrees.)  So I've been doing a lot of chilling out in da house.

I have to rest up because tomorrow Tropical Storm Isaias arrives and I'll be on Storm Tracker duty.

We are not evacuating dis time as right now it is only a Tropical Storm.
Mom and I are hoping dat it is not too bad as I get scared in biggy storms and lightening/thunder.   I also don't like when da weather radio sounds off wiff tornado warnings.

Hope you and your peeps are all doing well.

Downward Dog

Mom's nephew (Aunty D's son) was here a couple of months ago.   He is really good at making my peeps exercise (even in a pandemic and it's raining out).

What is dat lady doing?
Dey decided to do some yoga and since I am a Downward Dog expert, I decided to help coach dem.

What's dat?

A yaptop?

Dey don't need dat.

I can show dem all dey need to know.

Dat's not a downward dog!

Giving encouragement!   You can do it !!!!

Dis is kinda boring.

Is it nap time yet?

Stay well, fit, and safe.

ISO-lympics!

Arrrrrrrroooooooo!   Today is da Downunder Daisy's ISO-lympics!

I entered da:

The Great Toilet Paper Roll Race
Yep, they are still holding the Great Toilet Paper Roll Race.   Even wiff da shortage of supplies, they managed get enough rolls to hold dis historic event.   (Da organizers traded dog poop bags for rolls of TP.)   I'm going for da gold.

I got my roll and I'm ready for da race to start!

Checking out da competition.

OMD.... dat is Messi.
He is famous for his paw-work.
Could be major competition.
Da whistle blew and da race was on!

It was nose to nose for awhile and I really thought dat I would win (I do have a big nose), but Messi's pawsome paw-work won da day.

High Paw Messi !!!

It was a good race and I came in second.
No worries, we all got to take home a roll TP for pawticipating.

We also even got some
TP Cake to celebrate the day.

I'm exhausted from racing.
Wags,
           Ranger

Pees..... don't tell anyone, butt I managed to snag some extra TP.   Mom is so proud of me.
