Sunday's Artplay - "The Critic"

A rainy Sunday is a good time to chill out and catch up on some movies.

Ranger (the Movie Critic)
I have more movie reviews and paw ratings for all my furfriends.   Here are some of my top picks for your next rainy day.

"Hotel for Dogs" - It was a bark'n good time!   I wanta stay at that hotel.    Very high-tech and the dinner train was pawsome.

"Lady and the Tramp" - a classic and I think Jock (the scottie & Lady's neighbor) was the real star of the movie.   He should have gotten a Dog-a-cademy award for his scottish accent.   He also wore a really cool kilt.  Maybe I should get me one of them.

Have you seen any good movies lately?

Chow for now.  I gotta get me some more popcorn.

Gold Metal award winner

Look what came in the mail today?

I finally got my official Star Puppy certificate
anddddddd  it came with a gold metal.

AROOOOO !!!

This is truly Pawsome.

It even has my full name.
Ranger Lancelot (after Dad) Harned
How do I look?   Maybe if I wear my metal, I'll get all the girl pups to fall in love with me.
Enough is enough.   I didn't realize that as soon as you get Gold Metal, all the paparazzi will be after you.

Ok… one more picture and then I get a cookie.

The Critic

My Dogster said I am supposed to stay calm and chill out for a couple of days, while I recover from my little "procedure".   So…  Mom went to Walmart and bought me some dog & puppy DVDs from the $5 sale bin.

We snuggled up on the couch and watched the movies.

Puppies !!!!!!!    I just love puppies !!!!
Here are my pup reviews and paw ratings.

"The Retrievers" - lots of golden puppy action.  A pawsome family movie.

"Aussie & Ted's Great Adventure" - I really love'd the Aussie accent and his girl furfriend was beautiful, but it was slow and I got kinda sleepy watching it.

"Beethoven" - a real drool!   I bark'd my head off at the big clumsy dog.   We didn't even watch the whole movie.

"Marley & Me" - all about an Obedience School puppy drop-out.  Mom did not think Marley was a good role model for me.  I thought the humans in the movie were clueless.    Also… it has a sad ending.

After we watched the movies, Mom gave me some vanilla ice cream.
Yummmmmmmm.  Cold and yummy!

Ooops, I got some ice cream on my nose.
More please!

What movies do you recommend?

Chow for now.

Fall Pruning

While I'm resting from my "little procedure" (and watching puppy movies with Mom), I thought I'd blog about the Fall pruning we did last weekend.

This is my 1st Fall season.   So far, I have learned that in the Fall, all the bushes in my yard get cut.   Aunty D calls it "pruning".   Maybe I can play too.  Mom… can I help?  Mom said that I can help gather up all the fallen branches after Aunty D cuts them off the bushes.    I can do that!   I like helping.

Aunty D… here is one more branch for the pile.
Oops!   I think I put one of my good branches in the pile.
Maybe I can find it and get it back.

See my new video.
Got it!
I'm going to guard this pile to make sure no one else gets any of my branches.
You might have notice that I am sporting my "bear cub" look.   We did our yard work prior to getting my new haircut on Monday.

Wruff Cuts

Mom thinks I need a bath and a hair cut.   What do you think?

Ok… maybe I do have crazy unmanageable hair.
So what is wrong with crazy hair?   Mom has crazy hair too.   She says she likes what she calls "the sassy messy" look.  I don't complain about her wild hair so why does she think I should get hair cut?   I kinda like looking more like Mom.

Well… Mom got her way and off we went to get all my hair cut.   Next time I'll have to hide under the bed when I hear her talking about snip-snip.
My groomer says I have thin hair on one side.
The next time she gives me a hair cut, she will not
trim me so close.

This is my best side.  Maybe I should
pose for all my photos with my good
side.

Well… what do you think?

Do I look cool with my new haircut?

This is my sad look.

Aunty D keeps picking me up to cuddle.  She likes my soft furry coat.   She says I also smell good.   Maybe I should go outside and roll in the dirt for awhile.  I am a boy puppy and we are supposed to smell like dirt.  Right?

Mom assures me that my hair will all grow back.  Maybe I'll just pretend that I'm sad about losing my hair.  Then I can get more cookies, hugs, and kisses.  I know how to Work It!   They don't know it yet, but I may have learned a few new tricks this past weekend from my new buddies at the doggie hotel.

Chow for now.

Puppy sleep-over

Aunty D and Mom were away this weekend and I got to go on a puppy sleep-over at the doggie hotel and daycare.   This was the second time that I have been there and I had fun playing with all the other small dogs.

This afternoon Aunty D and Mom picked me up and I got to ride in the zoom-zoom car again.

I'm kinda tired.

So who's driving?   I'm ready to go!

Back home now and I'm ready for a nap.

Playing with all the other small dogs was fun… but exhausting.
Zzzzzzzzzzzz.   Sleepy time.

Toy Box Diving

It was a rainy day today so I only got to go outside between rain showers.   To amuse myself this afternoon…. I decided to take a closer look at the Toy Box that Mom set out for me.
I really like my Tigger toy.  It is really soft.

It is kinda hard to see down into my Toy Box.
Grrrrrrr...I wanta get that toy at the bottom but I just can't reach it.

There has got to be a better way to get at my toys.  I'll have to think on this for awhile.

Woof!  Woof!  I've got an idea!      I'll just climb on into my box and then I'll be able to reach all of my toys.

I'll just jump in.

This is a bit of a tight fix.

It is not so easy getting in my Box.   That first step is tricky.

Mom took this video of me trying to get into my Toy Box.  It is not as easy as you may think when you have short legs.

See my video.
Once I got in my Toy Box, some of my toys started squeaking when I stepped on them.  That kinda startled me.  Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.  I guess I should figure out how to get out of this box.
Squeak!  Squeak!  Oh my.
Once I got out of the box, Mom set my Toy Box on it's side so I could easily check out all my toys.  What took her so long?
Arooooooo.  That is so much better.
Now I can see all my toys.
I'll bark at you soon.   I have to play with more toys now.

Light-Tag

I spy something new on the floor.   What do we have here?
I wonder what it is for.

Wow…. look at the bright light.

Woof, Woof….
it is kinda shinny.
Arrrooooooooo….  I spy a spot of light on the door.
Maybe I can catch the light and play with it.   I ran all around and when I got close to the bright light I pounced on it.   Then it moved and I chased it again and again.
Here I am "Light Pouncing".
This morning we had some visitors and one of them showed me a bright red light.  I had lots of fun chasing the light.

Mom made this video of me chasing the little red light.   I almost caught it.   I'm not sure what I would do with it, if I caught it… but chasing the light is pawsome good fun!

Phew……  all this running around and playing "Light-Tag" is exhausting.  I may have to take a nap now.   Maybe we can play some light-tag in my yard tonight.   That would be very exciting.

I'll bark at you again soon.

More Classes - yummm

Today I took another class "Creative Table Snatching 101" from my furfriend Jazzi.  Read all about it at http://jazzis-world.blogspot.com/

It was a GREAT Class and I learned a lot of new techniques. This afternoon I decided to practice some snatching.
Brush Snatching
Snatching a brush is not as good as snatching food… but one still has to practice with whatever is available.  I can't wait for dinner-time.   Maybe I can snatch something really yummy then.
Chow for now.

Bark'n Bad & Brave

Over the last 2 weeks, I have really found my voice.   I like bark'n.   I bark at the TV, doorbells, squirrels, birds, and sometimes even leaves.   Bark'n is FUN!

BB sign.
Today, when we went on our morning walk around our neighborhood, I decided to bark at a big bad sign.

I also decided that I do not like Cats.   Every morning there is a mean look'n white Cat that just sits on it's step and stares me down.   Most morning's I just walk real fast past it.   I keep looking back to make sure it is not following us.   Ya see… I'm kinda scared of it.

This morning I was feeling BRAVE so I decided to Bark and Growl at the Big Bad Cat.   I showed him that I am no longer afraid of him.

GRRRRRRRRRR.   BARK!  BARK! BARK!  TAKE THAT YOU BIG BAD CAT!

Big Bad Cat.

I'll Bark at you again tomorrow.

The Great Discovery

Last night I discovered the TV and my whole world changed.

I heard a dog barking and so barked back.  Then I looked up and saw the dog running around on the TV box.  Arrooooooooooooo.   Very exciting.   I jumped up and down and barked at him.

Then the door bell rang and I barked and ran to the front door.    Door Greeter is one of my jobs and I take it very seriously.   Mom started laughing and said that the bell was on the TV.   So… I came back to look at the TV some more.

Mom then put on Animal Planet for me, but they only had two Gator Guys that were catching a big gator.    I watched, but it was not as exciting as the dogs were on TV.   So Mom got her computer and found some Scottie videos on YouTube.

WWWWWWWOW.   It's a whole new world out there.

So much to see…  so little time.
All this YouTubing is exhausting.

Chow for now.  I have to nap for awhile, before I check out Animal Planet again.

Last Day of School - for awhile

Last night was the last of my 4 week Trilogy K9 class.   We did some more obedience training, learned some tricks, and did a little pre-Agility training.  I had a really good time in class and was the youngest pup in the class (again).
Here I am practicing jumping thru a hoop.
Next step… the Agility tunnel.
Arooooooooo!   Last night was exciting!
First we  practiced walking on a loose leash around the indoor ring.  Unfortunately while I was trotting around with Mom (on her left side), I had this sudden urge to Poop!  Not only did I Poop, but it was kinda messy and very smelly.   Mom had to clean it up and another human held my leash while she made the spot all clean again.
What can I say… when the urge strikes… ya just have to go with it!

After the poop incident, I had lots of energy.   I am always on a high after I poop.
We then practiced some of our tricks and "SIT UP".   I am still having trouble with "SIT UP".   It's a balance thing and my butt is too round.

Finally we worked on some pre-agility stuff.  We got to run up a ramp, stop on the platform at the top, and then run down the long blue & yellow board on the other side.   I was a super-star at this.  The other puppies were afraid, but not me.

Lastly we got to run through the tunnel and every time we came around for another go at it, the teacher made it a little longer.   I was PAWSOME at it.   The best in my class.  My teacher called me her little Black Ninja.    No Fear Ranger!

After we were all done, the teacher's dog, Gus, brought us each a cookie that said "Job Well Done".
   Yippy!  I love cookies.

Mom says we are all done with school for awhile.  We will continue to practice what I have learned so far and when I'm older, we will take Beginning Agility.  I have to know my commands really good before I start Agility.  My teacher says I need to be about 18 months old before I take this class.   I should be full grown by then and that is apparently important for Agility training.

When we got home, I was exhausted and slept for a couple of hours.
ZZZzzzzzzz

Sunday's Artplay

I give up.   I am all out of ideas for a title for this image.  Mom says I should ask my furfriends for help.
Soooooooo…… How about we play Title This Artwork?     Aroooooooooooo…. I love games.

                            " ?????????????? "

Enter your suggestion as a comment so I can choose my favorite.
I can't wait to see your ideas.          Wags,
