Mom took me to the dogster before she went to the mountains (for her little vacation) cuz she suspected dat I had another fection. Ya see…. I had a accident in the house @ 4:30am. I just couldn't hold it until we got to the door. Well…. she was right… another fection. Drat.
So… we got the antibiotics and….. I get to have wet/can food again. Yippy! I love the wet smelly stuff. Yummmmmmmmmm.
Now… dis is the second one dat I've have in the past 5 months. Mom is a bit concerned as she hopes dat dis is not an indicator of more serious issues down the road. Ya see…. I am only 1yr and 6mo old.
Do you have any advice on what I can do to prevent future UTI/bladder fections?
Oh yeah…. I almost forgot to tell ya dat Mom got herself a Cold while she was in the mountains. I guess neither of us got anything good from the mountain. Maybe we should just stay at the beach.
So now I'm running around and playing (and peeing) and Mom is robbing the tissue box. We're quite the pair.
Wags,
Ranger
it does seem odd such a young chappy be getting uti's so often - I think a chitty chatty with the dogtor might be order and maybe rule out any other issues. There can be many problems at the root of it - check out http://pets.webmd.com/dogs/guide/lower-urinary-tract-problems-infections-dogs
ReplyDeleteOh no you both have got the sickies. Sorry we are of no help here. However we send you both healing vibes and POTP. Have a terrific Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Bummer! That does not sound like any fun at all for either of you! We'll be thinking about you and hoping you feel better SOON!
ReplyDeleteGracie has had two UTI's and she is a 8-year old pug. We are changing diets to help the UTI problem...the vet thinks it was the food.

If you stop drinking liquids, it will clear up eventually. I am not a dogtor.
ReplyDeleteWE are so sorry to hear that YOU and your MOM are BOTH having the Sickies. We have our paws crossed fur BOTH of you.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your innareds and your Pee Shooter don't like the foods you are eating.
Aw, Ranger! UTIs can be so uncomfortable! Hope you feel better soon, buddy! Sometimes urinary tract infections recur because the antibiotic wasn't given long enough, or the wrong antibiotic was used. If Wrigs were to have recurrent bladder infections, the first thing I'd do is have the vet collect a sterile urine sample via cystocentesis and send it to the lab for a culture and sensitivity. (Of course, maybe this has already been done.) This helps the vet identify exactly which kinds of bacteria are causing the infection and which antibiotic will kill them. Another culture should be done about a week after you finish your antibiotics to be certain you kicked that infection's butt. If after all this, you still get another infection, it's probably time to take a closer look with some additional testing. Get well soon!

So sorry Ranger that you and your Mom don't feel well. Hope you can get it straightened out. Maybe you need a more acidic diet. That is what our Mom did when she had FOUR uti's just last year. She started taking cranberry pills and she has not had one this year

Sorry, we can't help you...knock on wood...we haven't had any fections. AND if your mum abandoned you in your sickness to go off by herself, then we think a cold is fair! If she took you, just ignore that sentence. We do hope she's feeling better soon and doesn't have a sore nose.

ReplyDeleteGosh Ranger I've never had one of those UTI things but it doesn't sound like much fun. I hope that medicine AND the nice juicy wet food (!) clears it right up! Wish I had some advice to pass on about how to run fast enough to get away from those UTI germs but I bet someone else does......GET WELL SOON BUDDY!
ReplyDeleteKitty Hugs, Sammy
Hope you are both feeling better soon!!
ReplyDeleteoh noes, get well soon
ReplyDeleteOh no, Ranger! Miss Heather started peeing like that one day...to the point she was peeing several times an hour. I took her to the V-E-T thinking it was a bladder infection but it turned out to be related to her liver. Be sure your mom keeps watch over your liver values as you get older. They've kept our family quite busy over the last year and a half. You are so very young! I hope the V-E-T can find you a fix soon. Much love, The Scottie Mom.
