Hardball

I gots an AMAZING story for you today.

You know how much I like playing with balls.   Well… the other evening when I was out in my yard, I found me a really cool new ball.

I was having a really great time running around and rolling it around when Mom came out to see what I was up to.   Ya see… all of my regular balls were still in the outdoor ball basket so she knew something was up.

What's ya got there Ranger?
Yo..  Mom, isn't this a cool hardball?
It rolls really good too.
Dis is a close-up of my new ball.
Unfortunately, Mom (aka "da pawty pooper") took my new ball away and put it on the other side of the fence.

Dar it is on the other side of my fence.

Is that fair?
I mean… I found it, not her.

Mom consulted with Aunty D and she said dat my hardball is a Box Turtle.

I watched it for a long time
(like 87 zillion hours) and you'll never guess what happened…..

…. a little head pop'd out of my ball.
Arrrrrrrroooooo…it was sooooooooo pawsome.
Then my new ball ('Boxy') waddled away.
Have you ever seen a waddling hardball with a little head?   It was super duper cool.   I hope 'Boxy' comes back soon, so we can play ball again.   I thinks I have the best yard ever.   There is always somethin new to explore.

Wags,
       Ranger

Pees.  Mom said she was glad I hadn't found me a snake (whatever dat is).   Apparently Mom is a scaredy-cat when it comes to snakes.

  4. Those are such fun to play with - unless they are the snapping kind.....Mom says if we ever see one of them we have to run really fast in the other direction. That sure was a pretty hardball you found.

  7. BOLAL!!! I see those on my walks sometimes, Ranger. We even have larger hardballs called "snapping turtles". Ma says I should not play with those. What a shame mom tossed it over the fence so you couldn't keep playing with it.

  9. You can play boomerang with it because it is automated. Of course, it will take a long time to come back.

  15. I would have loved to have seen the pup's face if one of his balls had done that! Sadly we don't have land tortoises in OZ so I'm unlikely to have that pleasure :-)

  17. I've never seen a ball get up and walk away when it has had enough of playing! I hope all the rough play didn't make boxy feel sick!

  19. Oh Ranger that's a swell ball and who would EVER think it could grow a head and legs and waddle??? Never heard of such a thing!!! As for snakes - well - my Mom HATES them (whatever they are) and whenever she sees one she screams which is NOT a good thing. I bet your Mom would scream too - I think you and I should be GLAD we don't have those in our yards...
